Bettermode vsCircle
Selling courses, or supporting customers?
Circle is built for creators who package memberships, courses and paid access. Bettermode is built for companies running a community next to a product their customers already pay for, connected to the CRM and the support desk. Review sites file us in the same category. The jobs are different.
14-day trial on Starter and Growth. No credit card.
The short answer
Pick Circle if
- The community is the product, and members pay you for access
- You need a course builder with lessons, drip content and certificates
- You want checkout, paywalls and subscription tiers inside the platform
- Native iOS and Android apps matter more than anything else on this page
- You'd rather send email broadcasts from the community tool than from your marketing stack
Bettermode doesn't do courses, payments, email broadcasts or native mobile apps. Better you read that here than find it in week three.
Pick Bettermode if
- The community sits beside a product people already pay for
- You measure it in tickets deflected, feedback captured and accounts retained
- Community activity has to land on the customer record in Salesforce or HubSpot
- Members should get one AI answer from your community, help center and docs together
- Procurement will ask about SAML, audit logs and an uptime SLA before it asks about features
Circle helps you monetize an audience. Bettermode makes an existing customer base cheaper to serve and easier to hear.
Price, like for like
Both companies publish their prices, so this part is checkable. Circle prices below are Circle's annual-billing rates. Bettermode Starter is $149 a month billed yearly or $199 month to month.

What Circle's comparison page says about us
Circle runs a page called "Circle or Bettermode?". Some of it is fair. Several lines are out of date, and one was never true.
"Bettermode is twice the price for half the platform."
Out of date. That line compares Circle Business at $199 to our old $399 Starter. Starter is now $149 a month billed yearly, removes our branding and includes API access. Circle's cheapest plan is $89 a month billed yearly, and it keeps Circle's branding and takes 2% of every member payment.
"Events and live: not available."
Wrong. Events are part of the core app set on every Bettermode plan, Starter included, next to Q&A, Discussion and Polls. Circle's native live rooms and streams are a real strength, and worth weighing if live video is central.
"No API access."
Out of date. Starter includes limited API access and our MCP connector. Growth adds the full API, webhooks and a sandbox environment.
"Powered by Bettermode" branding.
Out of date. It comes off on every plan.
"API access, branded emails, CMS customization and white-labeling are sold as separate add-ons."
Not on the current plans. Those are plan features, listed on our pricing page. The only add-on we list is migration support, on Growth and Premium.
"Bettermode's AI is limited to basic content moderation."
Partly true on Starter, where AI means spam detection plus the MCP connector for your own AI tools. From Growth, Ask AI answers members from your community, help center and docs in one reply. Circle's own "best white label community apps" post lists Ask AI as a Bettermode feature.
No courses, no checkout, no native app, no email broadcasts.
Fair. All four are creator-business features, and all four are Circle's to win. We said so at the top.
Where a customer community is different
It lives inside your revenue stack
On Growth, posts, replies, joins and event attendance land in Salesforce as native objects within seconds, so a rep sees what an account has been asking before the renewal call. HubSpot connects natively too, and so do Zendesk, Intercom and Jira. Circle's published integrations reach CRMs through Zapier and Integrately.
Answers before tickets
Ask AI and federated search pull from your community, help center and docs at once, so a customer gets an answer before the question turns into a ticket.
It looks like your product
Advanced Design Studio and a custom CMS on Premium, your own domain on every plan, and no Bettermode branding on any of them.
It passes a security review
Premium carries SOC 2 and SAML, a 90-day audit log, a 99.9% uptime SLA, custom invoicing, purchase orders and net terms, and a security and legal review as part of onboarding. Circle is SOC 2 certified too. The difference shows up in SSO and contracting.
Lenovo Legion, Logitech, Yoto, FlutterFlow and Xano all run their communities this way. InvGate evaluated Circle and chose Bettermode because it needed community activity connected to HubSpot, where its sales and success teams already work.
Moving from Circle
We move members, content and space structure, and plan the cutover so the community stays up while it happens. Migration support is available as an add-on on Growth and Premium.
Questions people ask about Bettermode and Circle
Is Bettermode more expensive than Circle?
Not at the entry level anymore. Bettermode Starter is $149 a month billed yearly and removes our branding. Circle Professional is $89 but keeps Circle's branding and takes 2% of member payments, and Circle Business is $199. At the top end, Bettermode Growth ($1,500) costs more than Circle Scale ($419) because it adds native Salesforce, Ask AI and a sandbox.
Does Bettermode have a free plan?
No. We retired it in January 2026. Starter and Growth both come with a 14-day trial and no credit card. Circle doesn't have a free plan either.
Does Bettermode have a mobile app?
No native iOS or Android app. Bettermode is a responsive web app that works in any mobile browser. If app store presence is a hard requirement, Circle is the better fit.
Can I sell courses on Bettermode?
No. There's no lesson builder, drip scheduling or certificates. Teams that run training alongside a community usually keep their LMS and use Bettermode for the discussion around it.
Can I charge for membership on Bettermode?
No. There's no checkout, paywall or payment processing. The flip side: no one takes a percentage of what your members pay you.
Does Bettermode have email?
Email notifications and a digest on every plan, and sender email customization from Growth. There's no broadcast or sequence builder. Most teams send campaigns from HubSpot or Mailchimp, and Bettermode connects to both.
Does Bettermode run events?
Yes, on every plan including Starter. Circle's comparison page says otherwise, and it's wrong.
Does Bettermode have AI features?
Every plan has AI spam detection and the Bettermode MCP connector, so tools like Claude or ChatGPT can work with your community. Growth and Premium add Ask AI and federated search, which answer members from your community, help center and docs together.
Does Bettermode have an API?
Yes. Starter includes limited API access. Growth and Premium include the full API, webhooks and a sandbox environment.
Do Bettermode and Circle integrate with Salesforce and HubSpot?
Bettermode connects natively to both Salesforce and HubSpot, starting on Growth. Circle's published integrations connect to CRMs through Zapier and Integrately.
Does Circle support SSO?
Circle Professional and Business support logins from membership tools like Memberstack, Memberful and WordPress. Custom single sign-on starts on Circle Scale at $419 a month billed yearly. Bettermode supports social login on Starter, OAuth2 and JWT on Growth, and SAML on Premium.
Is Bettermode or Circle better for creators?
Circle. If you're selling courses, memberships or paid access, it's built for that job. Bettermode is built for brands and product teams running a community for their customers.
